Shirley A. Cannata Obituary
Shirley A. (Wambolt) Cannata 81, of Franklin, died peacefully, with family at her side, Sunday September 4, 2016, at Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, following an illness. Born August 26, 1935 in Dedham, a daughter of the late Robert L. and Olive L. (Hudson) Wambolt, she was a former resident of Walpole and Norwood before settling in Franklin. She was raised and educated in Franklin and was a member of the Franklin High School Class of 1953. For over 30 years Shirley worked for Stop & Shop Supermarkets at their various locations in Walpole, Norwood and Franklin. She also worked in the office for Factory Mutual in Norwood, MA and FM Global in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Always active, she enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting, gardening, & traveling. Shirley was an avid golfer and enjoyed ballroom dancing; you would also find her at the Franklin Senior Center and was a member of the Catholic Womens Club at St. Marys Church in East Walpole. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Shirley is survived by her children; Mark Cannata of North Providence, Rhode Island, Linda Cannata Dugdale of East Walpole and Steven Cannata of Plainville, siblings; Dorothy Cotter of Norwood, Donald Wambolt of Long Beach, Mississippi & Joan Cushing of Marion, a grandson Peter Dugdale of East Walpole & many nieces & nephews. She also leaves her longtime companion Clemente Ed Caporelli of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. She was the sister of the late Kenneth, Ralph, and Harold Wambolt, Doris Hunt and Barbara Derenzo. Shirley was the former wife of the late Francis A. Cannata who died in 2005. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday Sept. 10th at 9:15AM from the Charles F. Oteri & Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Marys Church 1 Church Sq. Franklin at 10AM. Interment will follow at Union Street Cemetery, Franklin. Calling hours are Friday Sept. 9th from 4-8PM at the funeral home.
