Thomas D. Lazinski Obituary
Thomas D. Lazinski, 22, of Franklin, ended his life May 18, following a long, painful, frightening journey with mental illness. He was the son of Michele Kelly and her husband Doug Lanich of Franklin and David Lazinski and his wife Hsiao Wen Lazinski of Franklin. Born in North Wales, Pennsylvania, on October 28, 1990, Mr. Lazinski had lived in Franklin since the age of 5. He was a graduate of Franklin High School, class of 2009 and had attended the Berklee School of Music in Boston, MA. Thomas had been an extraordinary musician with exceptional skill as a violinist. Since age 5, Tom had been performing and playing in orchestras, such as the Providence Youth Orchestra. He was an active member in various performing ensembles in the Franklin Public Schools. Thomas had played at many weddings, funerals, functions and events in the local area from a very early age. He also had written his own musical compositions and won the Ray Charles Song-Writing Competition in 2004. In 2007 he was awarded a full scholarship to attend the Marc OConnor Fiddle Camp in San Diego. In addition to his parents and stepparents he is survived by his sister Taryn Lazinski of Franklin and his step-brother Shuo Hui Wen of New Hampshire. He is also survived by his grandparents Michael and Patricia Kelly of New Jersey, and his grandfather Raymond Lazinski of Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his uncle Kevin Kelly and Aunt Maureen Kelly of New Jersey and his Uncle Mark Lazinski of Atlanta, Georgia. His memorial service was held on Saturday May 25 at the First Universalist Church at 262 Chestnut Street Franklin at 2:00.
