Zillah Elizabeth Whitcomb Obituary
Zillah Elizabeth (Gates) Whitcomb, of Wrentham, where she has lived since 2005, died Monday, September 27, 2010 at the Maples Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wrentham. She was 84. Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late James and Zillah (Mitchie) Gates. She was a graduate of Acton High School, and later went on to earn her L.P.N. certification. Formerly a long time Franklin resident, she retired in 1982, from the Wrentham Developmental Center, having served as an LPN for 26 years. She had been a member of the Mass Mental Health Nurses Association, and enjoyed painting and reading. Wife of the late Bruce P. Whitcomb, whom predeceased her in 1976, she was the loving mother of Alan Whitcomb and his wife Darlene of Lyons, NY, Brian Whitcomb and his wife Sherryl of Bourne, MA, Malcolm Whitcomb of Cumberland, RI, Mark Whitcomb and his wife Brenda of Cumberland, RI, Joel Whitcomb and his wife Nancy of Wrentham, Kenneth Whitcomb and his wife Barbara of Columbia Station, OH, and Phillip Whitcomb and his wife Cindy of Lake Odessa, MI. She was the sister of the late James Gates, Caroline Piper, Eleanor Howes, and BettyAnn Gillespie, and is also survived by 22 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren.
