M. Alice Hultgren

M. Alice (Heyd) Hultgren, a resident of Reading for 50 years, died January 12, 2014 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 91 years of age. Alice was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on August 23, 1922, the daughter of the late William G. and Edith (Barker) Heyd. Alice was raised in Belmont and graduated Belmont High School in 1940 and then attended the Chandler School for business in 1941. She proudly served her country during World War II in the US Navy WAVES. She was honorably discharged with the rank of Yeoman First Class. She volunteered her time and belonged to several organizations such as the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, Campfire Girls and the Cub Scouts. She was the Past Worthy Advisor of Rainbow for Girls in Belmont. She was a member of the Reading Society of Craftsman, WAVES National and the National Society Tole and Decorative Painters. Alice was the Beloved wife of the late Paul W. Hultgren who died last October. She was the devoted mother of Gary W. Hultgren of Lowell; Paul N. Hultgren of Laconia NH; and Lisa Ann Hultgren of Billerica. Cherished sister of Ruth Rask of Hermosa Beach CA. the late William Heyd and Mildred Neff. Loving grandmother of Terri Ann, Christine Marie, and Jeffrey Hultgren. At the request of the family services and burial are private and there are no visiting hours.
