Peter Reich, M.D., 82, of Cambridge MA died Aug. 11, 2013 in the Adirondack Medical Center of complications of acute myelogenous leukemia. A resident of Belmont for 45 years, he graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1956, did a medical internship at Brigham & Women's Hospital and residency in psychiatry at the Massachusetts Mental Health Center. Dr. Reich was head of the Division of Psychiatry at Brigham & Women's Hospital and a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Subsequently he served as the head of the Mental Health Service in the Medical Department at MIT. Throughout his career Dr. Reich maintained a small private practice. He was a member of the Belmont Town Meeting from 1998 until 2007. He is survived by his wife, Lee C. Reich, brother Charles, son Daniel, daughter Alice, daughter-in-law Mary Draper, grandchildren Emma & Maia Draper-Reich, Ethan & Janet Spingarn. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 2pm at the Wong Auditorium, Tang Center, MIT Building E-51. Entrance at 2 Amherst Street, Cambridge, MA.
