Anna Sucena Obituary
Requiem Mass for Anna Sucena, 96, of Tyler, was held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception with The Very Reverend Hank Lanik officiating under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Sucena passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2014. She was born October 12, 1917 in Porto, Portugal to Mary and Jose Pinto. Anna came to Massachusetts as a child. She later married and raised a family in Belmont, MA. She retired from the Polaroid Corporation and moved to Florida in the 1970s. She later moved to Tyler where she resided for the remainder of her life. She had many interests. She loved gardening and won numerous awards for her hibiscus. She was also an accomplished seamstress, sewing for herself and her family. She was a curious person by nature, learning to use a computer, digital camera and cell phone in her late eighties. She mastered the complicated computerized sewing machine and even had her own facebook page. Anna was loved by many friends and neighbors wherever she lived, as well as by her family. Anna was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John Sucena. She is survived by her loving family including daughters Grace Adams of Cohasset, MA, Cynthia Josephson and husband Paul of Tyler; grandchildren Cheryl Flaherty and husband Brian of Marshfield, MA, John Adams of North Attleboro, MA, Christine Vandiver of Tyler, Jennifer Brush and husband Brad of Arlington; and seven great-grandchildren, Jason and Jeffery Joyce, Nicholas and John Carlton Vandiver, Jake Adams, and Ana and Isabel Brush. Honorary pallbearers will be John Adams, Jake Adams, Jason Joyce, Jeffery Joyce, Nicholas Vandiver and John Carlton Vandiver. Rosary was scheduled at 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 31, 2014 with visitation following until 8:00 PM at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goodwill Industries, 1010 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02119.
