Georgia Maihos Obituary
Georgia (Mirageos) Maihos, 93, of Beverly, wife of the late James J. Maihos, died peacefully on Thursday February 13, 2014 at Beverly Hospital. Mrs. Maihos was born in Lynn, the daughter of George Mirageas of Kollines Greece and Helen (Kalavritinos) Tilas of Kalamata Greece. Mrs. Maihos was raised in Peabody, was a graduate of the Peabody High School Class of 1937, a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church and the Philoptochos Athena. She was a longtime resident of Beverly and spent summers in Salem, New Hampshire. She was employed at Sylvania, Loring Avenue, Salem, as a hand winder of incandescent light bulbs for 14 years until she left to raise her family. She is survived by two sons, John J Maihos of Beverly, and George E. Maihos, and his wife Renee, of Salem New Hampshire; one step daughter, Dorothea Ingalls of Hamilton, one sister, Anastasia Diminture, and her husband, John of Peabody, three sisters-in-law, Pauline Tilas, Mary Tillas and Mary Franggos, three grandchildren Jessie, Leah and Andrew Maihos, and four godchildren, John Tilas, Peter Franggos, Melanie Gargas, and Jim Yavorski. She also had nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, all by marriage, several nieces and nephews, and two longtime friends, Helen Clark of Danvers, and Susanne Hughes of Somerville. She was the sister of the late Charles Mirageas, William Mirageas, Nicholas Tilas, Ann Sakelakos, Chistos Tillas, and Stephen Tilas and step-mother of the late Barbara Hayes. ARRANGEMENTS: Funeral Services will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody on Wednesday, February 19, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours at the Campbell | Lee, Moody, Russell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, North Beverly, Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. Burial will be held in the Wenham Cemetery.
