Calanadrella, Richard J. - Acton  
Richard J. Calanadrella, 79, of Acton, formerly of Somerville, died June 20, 2016 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center. A Korean War Veteran who served with the U.S. Army. Richard grew up in Somerville, MA and received a degree in journalism from Northeastern University, during which time he wrote as a staff writer for the Boston Globe and met his future wife, Anne-Marie "Nancy" (Thomas) Calandrella. Upon graduation he entered a career in public relations beginning a tenure with C.A.R.E., which took him touring through-out New England and even around the globe visiting war-torn and deprived third-world nations. Corporate America followed with a second tenure in the high-tech world working with Digital Equipment Corp., Compaq, and Hewlett Packard, from which he retired in June of 2002. He served as chair and member on many boards in Acton, and was dedicated to helping promote and assist local organizations, religious groups and small businesses. He then dedicated his retirement years to caring for his wife, and continued his self-less service to the community. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Steven and wife Tammy of Litchfield, NH, and Douglas of Acton; four grandchildren, Kristen Benjamin and husband Michael, and Lauren, Sarah and Kimberly Calandrella; and two great-grandchildren, Logan and Paisley Benjamin. A gathering for family and friends will be held Sat. June 25th from 4:00-8:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave (Rte 111) Acton. Interment will be private at a later date. Clasby, Joseph L. - Ayer  
Joseph L. Clasby, 80, a former longtime Acton, MA resident, died peacefully Mon. June 6, 2016 at his home in Ayer, MA. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to Patricia M. (Hardiman) Clasby, and is also survived by their children, Michael Clasby of Lowell, MA, Kevin Clasby and his wife Heidi of Tyngsborough, MA and Karen Isenberg of Lunenburg, MA; grandchildren, Rachel Isenberg, Logan, Shea and Zoe Clasby; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson Joseph Isenberg, his brothers Charles and Thomas Clasby, and his parents, Charles and Mary (Logan) Clasby. Born in Waltham, MA, Mr. Clasby graduated in 1954 from St. Charles High School in Waltham, and in 1958 from Boston College where he served honorably in ROTC. During his career he was employed as an accountant in the steel and aluminum industry, a partner at Nu Diagraphics in Stoughton, and at Penn Truck Line in Allston. He was an active volunteer at the Emerson Hospital in Concord, and was an faithful member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish in Acton. Family and friends were invited to visiting hours Thur. June 9th from 4:00-7:00pm at Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave. (Rte 111) Acton. The funeral Mass was celebrated Fri. June 10th 11:00am in St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, 89 Arlington St., Acton, burial followed in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Central Street, West Acton.
