Longtime Acton resident John Groener, 69, died unexpectedly on Tues, July 2, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Jill Chamberlain Groener to whom he was married for 46 years. A graduate of Wilbraham Academy and Springfield College, John was very active in the arts and athletics. Together with his wife Jill, he raised a family and enjoyed life in Acton. He worked for the space program at M.I.T. on the Apollo 17 Manned Spacecraft Mission and later founded a computer consulting firm, Edge Data Corporation. John is survived by his wife, Jill; his daughter Heidi Edmonds and her husband Stephen of New York, his daughter Holly Lancaster and her husband Shannon of Maine; his four grandchildren John, Lindsay, David, and Drew; and his sister Paula Bement and her husband Robert of California. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of John's life followed by a reception at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, 723 Massachusetts Avenue (Rte 111) Boxborough on Saturday, July 20 at 2:00pm.
