Nathalie Boland Dauphine Obituary
Nathalie Boland Dauphine 98, beloved wife of Dr. Thonet C. Dauphine, died peacefully 1 April, 2013 at her Robbins Park home in Acton, MA. She was the daughter of the l ate David W. and Grace A. Boland of Worchester and Fall River MA, and sister of the late Grace Boland Simonpietri. A graduate of Sacred Hearts Academy and Regis College, Mrs. Dauphin studied biology and public health at MIT, where she met her future husband. After marriage in 1938, the couple resided in Cambridge MA, San Francisco CA, Irvington NY, Lewiston NY, State College PA, and Ridgefield CT. They moved to Acton in 1968, where Nathalie continued lifelong interests in her family, community, art, literature, medicine and travel. She was an active member of Acton Women's Club and Book Club, and a devoted volunteer at Acton Memorial Library and Emerson Hospital, where she helped inaugurate an art program. A passionate traveler, Nathalie toured most of the United States and many world destinations, including helping chaperon an Acton-Boxborough Regional High School trip to the Soviet Union in Spring 1985. An outstanding athlete, Nathalie enjoyed skiing, skating, tennis, sailing, hiking, swimming, gardening, and many other outdoor activities throughout her life. Nathalie will be greatly missed by her husband Thonet, four sons (T. Charles & Nan Dauphine Jr. of Asheville NC, Dr. Richard T. & Susan Dauphine of Carmel CA, Dr. David B. & Josephine Dauphine of Blowing Rock NC, and Stephen B. Dauphine of Hartford CT), six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three half-siblings (Sr. Ann C. Boland, Mary Boland Costa, and David W. Boland Jr), and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be held 11 am Saturday 27 April at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, 89 Arlington Street in Acton, Massachusetts. A reception for family and friends will be held in the parish hall immediately following the Mass. A private interment will be held at a after date.
