1922 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
June 26, 1922 - August 8, 2013. Ann Reese Bacall, age 91, died early Thursday morning, August 8, 2013 at Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover, MA. She was the devoted wife of the late Cortland Barrett Bacall. Born on June 26, 1922 in Worcester, MA, Ann was the daughter of the late Harold and Thelma (Frost) Reese of Meridan, CT and the sister of John and his wife Jean Reese of Columbus, NC. Mrs. Bacall graduated from Wheelock College in 1945 and received her Masters Degree in Education from Boston University. For numerous years she was a Kindergarten teacher in the Needham and Melrose Public School Systems. Anns hobbies included gardening, traveling, reading, and needlepoint. She also enjoyed sharing fine foods, lobsters and a good bottle of wine with family and friends. Mrs. Bacall is predeceased by her late husband, Cortland Barrett Bacall of Boxford and her beloved daughter, Darcy Lynn Bacall of Troy, NH. She is survived by her children, Paula R Verdonck and her husband Robert of Moultonborough, NH, Barrett S. Bacall and his wife Anna of Rowley, MA, Laurie C. Pollino and her husband Robert of Deerfield Beach, FL, Cynthia A. Murray and her husband William of Ionia, MI. Mrs. Bacall has 8 Grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Also held close in her heart are her extended family, David and Karen Woonton of Boxford, Ma and their 4 children whom she loved dearly and considered as her grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 11am at the Charles Dewhirst Andover Funeral Home 33 Pearson St. Andover, MA 01810. In keeping with Mrs. Bacalls wishes there will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Bacall requests donations should be made to the , 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA. 01701-9376.
