David M. Hill

David M. Hill, of Braintree, formerly of Norwood, passed away May 21, 2013 at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Wilma (Farell) Hill. Loving father of David E. L. Hill and his wife Diane of W. Bridgewater and Michael W. L. Hill and his wife Kristy of Bridgewater. Brother of Dinah Kay Winters. Dear grandfather of Kristen, Nicholas, Brenna, and Harrison Hill. Mr. Hill was born in Paris, KY where he grew up. He graduated from St. Johns Military Academy in Delafield, WI. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a Purple Heart recipient. After leaving the service he went to Hollywood, CA to pursue an acting career. He appeared in Johnny Guitar, The Rose Tattoo and The Eternal Sea. He was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in the film The Rose Tattoo. For over 20 years he worked at the Stop & Shop Warehouse in Inventory Control, retiring in 1995 and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Reposed at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, MA 02184 until 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, So. Braintree Sq. Visiting hours were Thursday, May 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial in Braintree Cemetery, Braintree.
