Frederick R. Tessari, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at age 82, peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at his home. His friends knew him as Rico, and his grandchildren called him "Nonno". He was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Boston, to the late Federico and Anna (Montin) Tessari, both from Italy, settling in Roxbury. Rico married his bride, Josephine, and lived in Dorchester. They moved to Braintree in 1969 where they raised their 7 children, had yearly July 4th pool parties, and lived life fully with bread, laughter, song, family, and love. They made Rockledge, Fla., their permanent home in October of 2012. Rico served on the Naval Destroyer, the USS Jeffers, securing the Mediterranean, and was a veteran of the Korean War
. He then began a career as a Boston Police Officer
, serving on the Tactical Police Force, Bomb Squad, and Boston Harbor Patrol. In his retirement, he devoted himself to masonry projects, renovating his Braintree home for his determined wife, gourmet cooking and baking Italian pastries, and beautiful family crested wood carvings. He enjoyed wearing colorful attire and hats. In his later years, he embraced the Christian faith and loved sitting outside people watching with his highly spirited dog, "Bear". Rico's family includes his childhood sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Josephine; his children and their spouses, Cheryl Tessari, Lee and Richard Staropoli, Frederick R. Tessari III, Janice and Richard Poynter, Mark and Carla Tessari, Paul and Dawn Tessari, and Joseph and Angel Tessari; grandchildren, Anna and Eric Staropoli, Alex and Frederick R. Tessari IV, Lauren (Williams) Pacheco, Anthony and Cara-Mia Tessari, Cam, Nick and Anna Tessari, Tess, Cheyenne and Samuel Tessari, Jadon, Anaiah, Eliana and Nathanael Tessari, Grant and Van McLaughlin; great-grandchild, Jonathan Tessari; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by extended family, Lorraine Dandrea and Gina DeSimone. He was predeceased by his beloved brothers, Victor Tessari, Eugenio Tessari and his cherished sister, Rose Cedrone, all from Massachusetts. A memorial service was held Dec. 24, 2013, at the Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home, Viera, Fla.
