Ethel M. (Taylor) Bean, age 99, of Braintree, died peacefully, Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born, raised and educated in Quincy and graduated from Quincy High School, Class of 1933. She had lived in Braintree for over fifty years, previously living in Quincy. Ethel worked as a licensed practical nurse at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth for over forty years and retired when she was seventy years old. She was affectionately known as Peewee to her colleagues. Ethel was a lifelong active member of the Fort Square Presbyterian Church in Quincy. She belonged to the Friendship Circle at Fort Square as well as the Braintree Senior Citizens Group. Beloved wife of the late Elvin C. Bean, she was the devoted mother of William L. Bean and his wife Tina of Braintree; loving grandmother of Amanda M. Bean of San Francisco, Calif., and Theresa Hemingway of Dorchester; loving great-grandmother of four great-grandchildren; sister of the late Hazel Taylor; dear friend of Terri Simms of Braintree. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services were conducted at the Fort Square Presbyterian Church, 16 Pleasant St., Quincy, Monday, April 8, at 10 Oclock. Visiting hours were held at the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Ave., Quincy, Sunday 2-5 p.m. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
