Joseph M. Lawson Jr. of Braintree, passed away peacefully at home Jan. 28, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 78, after a lengthy illness. Born and raised in Brockton, Joseph graduated from Brockton High School. After proudly serving his country in the United States Army, he began a career with the 7UP Bottling Company in Brockton as a delivery salesman that lasted for more than 25 years. His passions included candlepin bowling and golfing. Joseph was a member of the Rockland Golf Course for many years, having been taught the game by his father, Joseph Sr., a local golf pro in the Brockton area. Spending time with family and especially his grandchildren is what brought him the most joy. Beloved son of the late Joseph and Melva (Willis) Lawson of Brockton, Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (Migliorini) Lawson. He was the loving father of Stephen Lawson of Braintree, Susan Zopatti and her husband Mark of Braintree and Patricia Raymondi and her husband Daniel of Whitman; devoted brother of John Lawson of Brockton, Jean Lemasa of Avon, Virginia Child of Brockton and Janet LaRue of Fla. He was Papa Joe to Jason Hogan, Thomas and Jessica Raymondi. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Reposing was at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St., Braintree, until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Visiting hours were Friday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Old Colony Hospice,1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368.
