Martha (Slattery) McConnell, 79 years of age, entered life eternal Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Pope Nursing Home in Weymouth. She was born in Boston and had been a longtime Braintree resident. Her family was the center of her life and the ultimate source of her joy. She loved them with all her heart. Martha was a member of the First Baptist Church of Braintree. She was also a Deaconess at the First Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Paul F. McConnell who died July 28, 2012. She is survived by six devoted children, Paul F. McConnell Jr. of Naples. Fla., David A. McConnell of Wrentham, Stephen J. McConnell of Providence, R.I., Mark A. McConnell and his wife Nancy of Braintree, Michael A. McConnell and his wife Jill of San Diego, Calif., and Laura A. Volpe and her husband Walter of Braintree. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren. Martha was the daughter of the late Joseph Slattery and Doris (Nason) Slattery. She was the sister of the late Arthur Slattery. Visiting hours were held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Sunday, April 21, from 4-8 p.m. A funeral service was held at the First Baptist Church of Braintree, 594 Washington St., Braintree, Monday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. A committal service followed at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
