Rowena W. Lammers age 97, a long time resident of Braintree, MA and Popponesset Beach in Mashpee, MA, passed away peacefully among family and friends on Sunday, May 5, 2013. Rowena was predeceased by her husband William F. Lammers. Rowena was born in Braintree, MA on March 23, 1916, to Austin E. Wynot and Marion Giles Wymot. A graduate of Braintree High School and Bridgewater Teachers College, she pursued a career in teaching and also assisted with the family business during World War II. After marrying in 1945, she had two sons. Rowena spent many years teaching at Lakeside Elementary School in Braintree. She retired from the Braintree School System in June of 1976 after a long career and moved with her husband to their summer home at Popponesset Beach in Mashpee. Rowena enjoyed many years of gardening and spending time on the beach with her close knit community of friends. Rowena is survived by her brother William A Wynot of Signal Mountain, TN, her two sons, David W. Lammers of S. Dennis, MA and William A. Lammers of Ocala, FL. Rowena also leaves two granddaughters: Andrea M. Lammers of W. Dennis, MA and Kristina Brown of Ocala, FL. The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge the help so freely given by her neighbors in her last years. There will be a gathering for Rowenas family and friends at the Coonamessett Inn, in Falmouth, MA, on Saturday, July 27th at 3:00 pm.
