Obituary Condolences

William Johnston Jr., 95, of Braintree and Quincy, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Port Glascow, Scotland, William was one of five children born to the late William Sr. and Jane (Clinton) Johnston. He was a graduate from Braintree High School. A laborer by trade, he worked for 34 years at the Armstrong Cork Company. In retirement, he lived in Tobin Towers of Quincy and loved to dance, enjoyed candlepin bowling, golf and spending time at the dog track. He was the loving father of the late Ronald W. Johnston and his wife Dianne of Holbrook; dear brother to the late John Johnston, Jimmy Johnston and George Johnston. He is survived by his sister, Jean Braun of Connecticut; two grandchildren, Steven and Cheryl Johnston of Holbrook; and former wife and longtime companion of Mildred Gladstone Johnston of Brockton. Visiting hours were held Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. at Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams Street, Quincy Center.
