Charles Bob Erickson, 83 years of age, passed away after a period of failing health at South Shore Hospital, Weymouth on Saturday, March 29, 2014. Bob was born in and raised in Norwich, CT. He received his education in Connecticut. He had been a Braintree resident for over fifty years. Bob was a veteran of the Korean Conflict stationed in San Diego, CA. He had been employed as a plumber in the construction field for PDM Company of Manchester, N.H. until his retirement twenty years ago. Bob was a member of the Braintree Sons of Italy Lodge and had been a coach for the Over the Hill Gang Softball League of Braintree. He was also an avid Boston sports fan. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Ellen (Cesarini) Erickson who passed away in August of 2011. He is the devoted father of Mary E. Groleau married to Robert A. Groleau of Rockland, Robert H. Erickson married to Susan M. Erickson of Braintree, John R. Erickson married to Helen Erickson of Texas, Bette L. Erickson of Weymouth, Bonnie L. Erickson of Holbrook, and the late Andrew C. Erickson formerly of Braintree. He is the loving grandfather of Joseph and Jennifer Erickson both of Texas and Michael Monaghan of Stoughton. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Dorothy Valarelli of Norwich, CT. There will be a gathering at the Mortimer N. Peck- Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday, April 2, at 9:30 a.m. to be followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Church, South Braintree Square at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
