Francis D. DeGregorio Obituary
Francis Daniel "Dan" DeGregorio of Braintree died peacefully at home in the care of his loving family, at the age of 86. Dan is survived by his wife Judith; his daughters, Elaine Dougherty and her husband William of Norwell and Diane Dougherty and her husband David of Weymouth. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason Dougherty and his wife Theresa of Bristol, R.I., Marc Dougherty and his wife Jeani of San Francisco, Calif., Michael and Caitlin Dougherty of Weymouth; and a great-granddaughter, Amelia. He was also husband of the late Jean (Holbrook) DeGregorio. Dan was a lifelong resident of Braintree. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and was part of the 82nd Airborne Division in charge of aerial supply, dropping jeeps, howitzers, and supplies. He was stationed in Stuttgart Germany for 14 months. In 1952 Dan went into the automobile business working for Pompeo Motors in Quincy, and later opened Plaza Oldsmobile in 1968. After retiring in 1988, he enjoyed spending winters in Jupiter, Fla. Dan was an avid golfer and a member of the Wollaston Golf Club, Jonathans Landing Golf Club and Jupiter Country Club. He also enjoyed traveling, dining out, and most importantly spending time with his family and good friends. Reposing was at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington Street, Braintree, until 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, Braintree. Visiting hours were Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
