Ann Tingey Ellsworth, 83, of Brewster, Massachusetts passed away peacefully at her home on April 30, 2013 with her loving family at her side. Born January 16, 1930 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Ruth Ordway and Harold C. Tingey of Nutley, NJ. She attended Nutley High School and afterwards Pembroke College in Brown University from which she graduated in 1951. There she met her beloved husband of 58 years, Stoughton (Stote) Lathrop Ellsworth of Simsbury, CT. They married in 1951. Ann and Stote moved to Framingham, MA where they spent 38 years and raised their three children. Ann was very active in the local community with the Plymouth Congregational Church, Cub Scouts, and the Cushing Hospital Auxiliary. Throughout her life Ann enjoyed choral music and sang with the Plymouth Congregational Church Choir, the A Cappella Singers, and for many years with the Boston Symphonys Tanglewood Festival Chorus. The family fondly recalls her summer excursions to the Berkshires and Christmas concerts with the Symphony. In 1992 Ann and Stote moved to the home they designed and built together in Brewster, MA on Cape Cod. There they began their journey into retirement and their second life. Their home overlooking Cape Cod Bay was a frequent gathering place for their three children and five grandchildren. Ann continued her passion for choral music joining the Chatham Chorale where she enjoyed her role as the Chorales treasurer for many years. She and Stote relished operating the Chorales highly successful Florida fruit sale enterprise which kept them connected to many local friends. Ann is survived by her two sons, Stote Ellsworth Jr. and his wife Lisa of Marco Island, FL, and Robert Ellsworth and his wife Linda of Mashpee, MA, her daughter Susan Wright and her husband Neil of Saco, ME, five beloved grandchildren, Elisabeth, Carolyn, Christine, Casey and Brian, and her brother, Richard Tingey of Fairfield, NJ. A memorial service will be held Friday, May 10 at 2 p.m., at the Brewster Baptist Church, 1848 Main Street (Rte. 6A), Brewster, MA. The family welcomes friends to a reception celebrating Anns life following the service in the Parish Hall. Friends who wish to honor Anns memory are encouraged to make a contribution to the Chatham Chorale which she so enjoyed (P.O. Box 1111, West Dennis, MA 02670) or the charitable cause of your choice.
