John Henry Giltrap, 75, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home in Eastham on June 27, 2013. John was born to Robert and Margaret Giltrap in County Mayo, Ireland on December 24, 1937, and spent most of his youth in County Kildare. A skilled electrician, he immigrated to Boston, MA in 1966. He spent many years involved in the residential construction trade on Cape Cod, partnering with his brother Robert to establish Giltrap Brothers Construction. Johns retirement consisted of several years living in Ireland and almost twenty summers in Montana, helping on his brother's cattle ranch. His winters were spent devouring books of special interest, mainly world history. John was a very gifted, though humble artist. His love of Ireland, Montana, and nature were the inspiration for countless sketches and poems he eloquently put to paper. His jovial laugh, charming sense of humor, and zest for masterful storytelling will be missed by all who knew him. A special thank you goes to his friends on Cape Cod. John was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Paul and infant twin, Noel, of Ireland. He is survived by six brothers: Robert, Ronald, Michael, William, Joseph, and Terence, their families, and many nieces and nephews. As per John's request, his remains will be set to rest at the Giltrap family plot in County Kildare, Ireland.
