Mary Patricia (Buckley) Hartgering, of North Eastham, MA, formerly of Cambridge, MA, wife of the late Dr. James B. Hartgering, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013. She was the loving daughter of the late Patrick John and Bridget (Mackey) Buckley. Marys spirit of love is reflected through her family and friends. Adoring mother of Millicent P. Hartgering of Jamaica Plain, MA, stepmother of John Hartgering and his wife Martha of Clermont, FL, and Bill Hartgering of Evanston, IL. Step-grandmother of Matt and late Hartgering. Beloved sister of Margaret R. Buckley of Arlington, MA, Patrick J. Buckley and his wife Beverly of Waltham, MA, and Elizabeth H. Rodriguez and her husband Juan of Jamaica Plain, MA. Devoted aunt of Veronica Buckley Platt and her husband Greg, Doreen Buckley Gulledge and her husband Chip, Denise Buckley Ryan and her husband Jim, Bernadette Buckley Vanaria and her husband Michael, Patrice Buckley, Bridget Rodriguez and her husband George Anderson, Juan Patricio Rodriguez and his wife Kim, and Teresa Rodriguez. She cherished the company of many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She served the city of Cambridge at City Hall and Cambridge Hospital in many capacities and it was there she met her great love, Jim, and then retired to Cape Cod. Throughout her life Mary embodied the spirit of volunteerism, and treasured the friendships she made, especially with the Saint Joan of Arc Faith Community, Nu-Voice Club, Cape Cod National Seashore, and the Eastham Public Library. Friends and family gathered Friday, June 28, 2013, at the Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA, 02653. A Mass in Celebration of Marys life was held on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at 10:00 AM, at Saint Joan of Arc Church, 61 Canal Road, Orleans, MA.
