Jeannette Duff Obituary
Jeannette (Fowler) Duff of Harwich passed away unexpectedly at Cape Cod Hospital on Friday, March 28, 2014. Jeannette was born in Cambridge, MA and was the daughter of Mrs. Irene D. Fowler and the late Stanley G. Fowler. Jeannette attended Dennis schools and was a graduate of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, Class of 1970. As an adult she worked for Buttners Co. in Hyannis, Hyannis Cooperative Bank in Orleans and for the last twenty-five years at Stop and Shop in Orleans, Harwich and Yarmouth, where she made many life-long friends. Jeannette was the beloved wife and best friend of Michael Duff for thirty-eight years, Nettie was a rare and special person who had a gift of extending herself to others and took great care in nurturing family and friends. She was an incredibly generous person who opened her heart to others without hesitation. Nettie radiated kindness and was loyal and true to all who knew her. Nettie loved living on Cape Cod, especially her years in Eastham near the beach she loved so much. She celebrated her lifelong passion for art by painting in a variety of mediums with a special love for the landscapes and scenery of the Cape. Jeannettes greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted and selfless wife, daughter, sister, mother, aunt and grandmother. She leaves an empty space in the hearts of her husband Michael, mother Irene Fowler, son Zachary Duff of Brewster, daughter Melinda Duff of Boston, and Katherine and her husband John Muldoon of Sandwich, sisters Barbara Lumsden and family of Mashpee, Martha Jenkins and family of Brewster; brothers Stephen Fowler of Dennisport and Stanley Fowler Jr. of East Dennis, that can never be filled. She adored and treasured her grandchildren Charlie and Andrew Muldoon and spent as much time as possible with them. She also leaves behind her extended families on both the Duff and Fowler side with whom she shared her love and care with so unselfishly. Visitation hours will be held at Nickerson Funeral Home, 77 Eldredge Park Way, Orleans from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, April 2. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 3, burial will be private. In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made in her memory to Dream Day on Cape Cod, PO Box 364, Yarmouth Port, MA 02675. Dream Day on Cape Cod serves families that have children with life-threatening illnesses and or serious conditions by seeking to bring a ray of sunshine into their lives.
