Donald S. Kitchell

Donald S. Kitchell, of East Bridgewater, 70, died peacefully in his home on July 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. Don was the loving son of Ruth Kitchell of Stoughton and the late Richard G. Kitchell. Don grew up in East Bridgewater and was a graduate of East Bridgewater High School, Class of 1960. He married Lorraine F. Adams on June 28, 1969, and the two raised their family in East Bridgewater. Don worked for Eastern Edison for over 30 years and retired in 2000. He loved cars, especially working with them, NASCAR, camping, traveling, and being with his family and friends. He was a member of East Bridgewater Lions Club and the Union Congregational Church of East Bridgewater. Don was the loving father of Melanie J. Thurmond of SC, Donna L. Dees of SC, Dawn M. Williamson and her husband Michael of SC, Mark A. Kitchell of Brockton, Traci B. Wheeler and her husband Mark of Raynham, and Joy M. Kitchell McHugh of FL. He was also the loving grandfather of Michael, Amanda, Lisa, Briana, Jena, Isabel, Austin, and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition, Don was the brother of Richard G. Kitchell Jr. and his wife Rosemarie of CT, and the late Robert F. Kitchell. Don was the son-in-law of Edith Adams of Brockton and the late Nathan Adams. He is also survived by many cherished family members and friends. A funeral home service was held on Tuesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater followed by a burial at Union Cemetery located behind Union Congregational Church. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday, July 8, from 4 - 8.
