Antonio Ferreira, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on Nov. 10, two days shy of his 74 birthday. Antonio grew up in Santo Antonio Das Capelas, Azores and was a manager of a wicker basket company before immigrating to the United States in 1967. He married his childhood friend, Helena L. Amaral on Feb. 25, 1967 and the two raised their family in Bridgewater. Antonio worked for many years at the Foxboro Company before retiring in 1994. Antonio was very handy and was an excellent carpenter who enjoyed inventing things and building small boats. He was a gifted guitarist, who made his own guitars, and he also enjoyed fishing, and soccer. Antonio was the loving husband of Helena Ferreira and loving father of Bernadette M. Ferreira, Fatima M. Nogueira and her husband David, and Anthony J. Ferreira. Loving Vovo of Angela and David. Brother of Maria Velho, Serafin Arruda, Maria Frias, and the late Maria Arruda and Arthur Amaral and uncle of many loved nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater on Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 103 Center St. Bridgewater at noon.
