Antonio O. D'Olimpio Obituary
Antonio O. Tony DOlimpio, age 88, formerly of South Weymouth and Quincy, died peacefully, Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at the Saint Joseph Manor in Brockton. He was born, raised and educated in Quincy. He has lived in Bridgewater for fifteen years, previously in Fort Myers, Florida for ten years and many years in South Weymouth. Tony was the owner and operator of the former Tonys Autobody Shop in South Weymouth for over twenty-five years and has been retired many years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a signalman aboard the U.S.S. Sanders, DE40. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal with 4 battle stars. Tony was a member of the American Legion Post #462 and a former member of the Weymouth Knights of Columbus. He was an avid golfer, bowler and Boston sports fan. Beloved husband for sixty-two years of Nancy F. (Bellinghieri) DOlimpio. Devoted father of Stephen DOlimpio and his wife Deborah of Pembroke, Philip DOlimpio and his wife Susan of Weymouth, Cecilia LaVangie and her husband Michael of Abington. Loving grandfather of Dienna and Nicholas DOlimpio, Amy Fula, Jennifer Fortes and Michelle LaVangie. Cherished great-grandfather of Alex, Arianna, Carmine John CJ and Talia. Tony was the last of eleven siblings and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral was held from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Saturday, June 15. Funeral Mass was in Saint John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy. Relatives and friends were invited to attend. Visiting hours were at the funeral home Friday, June 14. Interment with military honors was held at Mount Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
