Obituary Condolences

Augustus W. "Gus" Obin, of East Bridgewater, formerly of South Weymouth, passed away peacefully at home Nov. 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Gus was a United States Army veteran serving his country honorably during the Vietnam era. He worked as a machinist for over 50 years, most recently with Jet Products in East Bridgewater. Gus loved camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a hard working and humble man who loved his family, they meant the world to him. He will be sadly missed by them and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Devoted husband of Mary D. (Michel) Obin of East Bridgewater. Loving father of William E. Obin Sr. of Fitchburg, Thomas A. Smith and his wife Kerry-Ann of Shrewsbury and Michele D. Holmes and her husband Brian of Stoughton. Brother of John A. Obin and his wife Lorraine of Randolph. Also survived by his Sister-in-law Grace R. Congdon of Medway. Cherished grandfather of William E. Obin Jr., Taylor C and Connor M. Smith, Catlin D. and Christopher J. Holmes. Visiting hours were on Monday, Nov. 12, from 4 - 8 p.m. in the McDonald Funeral Home, South Weymouth, at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.) Relatives and friends gathered in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth at 11:30 a.m. Burial with Military Honors in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gus may be made to the Hospice of the South Shore 30 Reservoir Park Dr., Rockland, Ma 02370-1055.
