Barry C. Farnsworth, age 58, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Nov. 19, in his home in West Bridgewater, MA. Barry was born April 2, 1955, in Brockton, Massachusetts. Barry was known as a fitness enthusiast and was active in bodybuilding. He is a veteran of the Air Force, where he maintained and repaired avionic systems of the F-111A Fighter/Bomber. He was stationed in Las Vegas at the Nellis Air Force Base, held the rank of E-4, and received an honorable discharge. Barry was an engineer and inventor, a graduate of Wentworth Institute of Technology. He worked for various places over the years including GTE, Molten Metal Technologies, MIT, and OmniGuide. He is listed on multiple patents and has had writings published in magazines. Barry was an avid outdoorsman. He was a teacher and Vice Education Chair of the Southeast Massachusetts chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club. He was a Commissioner with the Old Colony Council Boy Scouts of America, was actively involved with Camp Squanto, and is a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was well-known for his booming voice, his intellectual personality, and his love of chess and science-fiction novels. He was a dog-lover, especially of his Shiba Inu, Shelby. Barry is survived by his wife, Judy; five children, Marc, Robert, Allison, Rachel, and Barry Blazzard; his mother, Eleanor Karn, with Enrico Parziali; three sisters, Ruth Curtin, Kim Resendes, and Lori Scala; two granddaughters, Ryane and Robbi; and his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Memorial visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 from 5 - 8 p.m. in the Dahlborg-MacNevin Funeral Home in Brockton.
