Charles E. Chuck Hambly Jr., age 79 years, of West Bridgewater, died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. He was the loving husband of Linda C. (Cogan) Hambly. Born Sunday, Dec. 17, 1933, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Phyllis (Thompson) Hambly. Chuck was educated in Holbrook and had lived in West Bridgewater for the past 30 years. He worked for 30 years for the State of Massachusetts, Division of Unemployment. He was a disabled veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army, where he earned the Purple Heart, and holds the Infantry Combat Badge, Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal in addition to two Overseas Bars. He was a member of the Brockton VFW Post 1046, the DAVs and a member of the Buck and Doe Hunting Club in Rock Village (Middleboro), where he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Charles was a founding elder and active member of Christ Community Church in East Taunton, where he served the Lord. He lived out his faith loving Jesus and everyone he came in contact with. In addition to his loving wife Linda, he is survived by his five beloved children, Steven C. Hambly of Brockton, Mark C. Hambly and his wife Kathleen of Osterville, Laura L. Hamilton and her husband Andrew of Ohio, Paul E. Hambly and his wife Margaret of Mashpee and Michael S. Hambly of West Bridgewater; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Irene Darcy of Whitman and Sybil Hambly of Brockton; a brother, Warren Hambly of West Bridgewater; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Jason M. Hambly. Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. in Christ Community Church, 41 Stevens St., East Taunton, MA 02718, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. at the church. Interment followed in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Memorial gifts may be given to Christ Community Church, Building Fund.
