Frances R. (Monaghan) (Murphy) Payne, 94 years of age of Bridgewater, formerly of Braintree where she lived most of her life, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at the Bridgewater Nursing Home. Frances was born in Braintree, the daughter of the late Leo V. Monaghan and Inez Marion (Kelly) Monaghan. Frances was a former telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company. She worked at Paynes Color Mart in East Braintree for several years with her husband. She was the wife of the late Raymond I. Payne; and the mother of the late John F. Murphy. She is survived by a son, Barry Murphy of New Hampshire; and by seven grandchildren, Jody Murphy of Carver, Lisa Dilworth of East Bridgewater, Michelle Harmston of Iowa, Keli-Jo Rowell of Randolph, Sean Murphy of Plymouth, Ryan Murphy of Plymouth and Daniel Murphy of Marshfield. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren. She was devoted to her family members. Visiting hours to which relatives and friends are invited will be at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington St., Braintree, Wednesday, Nov. 28, from 3-5 p.m. A private prayer service will be held at the funeral home Thursday, Nov. 29. Burial will be private in the Braintree Cemetery. Memorial donations may be sent to the Bridgewater Nursing Home Activities Fund, 16 Pleasant St., Bridgewater, MA 02324.
