Gladys J. Elwell, 98, of West Bridgewater, formerly of Hanover, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Friday. She was born in Boston, daughter of the late Gladys M. (Jones) and Preston K. Landers and was raised and educated in Hanover. Gladys worked for many years for the Hanover School System as a part of the School Lunch Program. She also worked as a salesperson at the former WT Grant Store in Rockland. Mrs. Elwell was a longtime member of the 1st Baptist Church in Hanover, where she was a member of the Willing Workers. Gladys was also a member of the Hanover Council on Aging, and the Hanover Historical Society. Mrs. Elwell enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, knitting, and spending time with her family. Gladys was the wife of the late Harlan E. Elwell. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Frattalone of West Bridgewater, also mother of the late Janet M Valla; sister of Ellen M. Merritt of Hanover, and the late Priscilla A. Colby, Preston A. Landers, George T. Landers, and Paul G. Landers. Also survived by six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Grandmother of the late Beverley Frattalone Stoutamyer.
