James A. Black of East Bridgewater died Jan. 28, 2014, in the Bay Pointe Rehabilitation Center in Brockton. James was born in Brockton, son of the late Hazel (Lagerstedt) Black and William C. Black. Mr. Black was raised and educated in East Bridgewater graduating from East Bridgewater High School and Curry College. James was an English teacher for over 40 years at King Phillip Regional High School in Wrentham. After his retirement, he enjoyed his vegetable garden, loved all animals, feeding the birds in his back yard, and donating the eggs he gathered from his chickens. He was the brother of Maryanne Smith of North Falmouth and Rosemary Valentine of East Bridgewater. James is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends. Funeral Mass in St. Ann's Church, 95 North Main Street, West Bridgewater, Friday, Feb. 7, at 10 a.m. Burial in Central Cemetery, Central Street, East Bridgewater.
