Joseph N. DiNunno, 92, of West Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died peacefully Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at the Life Care Center of West Bridgewater. Joseph was the beloved husband for 51 years of the late Rita J. (Zarrella) DiNunno. Born April 21, 1921, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Donato DiNunno and Francesca (Minerva) DiNunno. Raised in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton High School. Joseph served as a radioman for the United States Navy in World War II for as he told everyone, 3 years, 3 months, and 29 days and not a day went by when he wasn't seasick. Joseph was a plumber and spent years with DiNunno Plumbing and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 51. Spider as he was known for his softball playing days enjoyed playing golf, bowling, visiting Raynham Dog Track, singing whacky songs, scratch tickets, and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was active for many years at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton and St. Ann's Catholic Church in West Bridgewater. He will be remembered fondly as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by his children, Joseph N. DiNunno Jr. of Georgia, Mark DiNunno of Delaware, Debra Willan of New Hampshire, and Vincent DiNunno of Raynham; his brother, Angelo of Bridgewater; and sisters, Ann Smith of Bridgewater, and Rose Hayes of Brockton. Grampy or Grumpy is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Sally, Paul, and Nino DiNunno. Funeral was held from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Monday, Nov. 18, at 8:45 a.m. thence to St. Ann's Church, 103 No. Main St., West Bridgewater, where a funeral Mass was celebrated for the repose of his soul at 10 a.m. Interment in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
