Virginia M. Welch of Bridgewater, formerly of West Quincy, died Dec. 3, 2012, in South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. Virginia was born in Boston, daughter of the late Anna (Kennedy) and John J. Canney. Mrs. Welch was raised and educated in West Quincy, graduated from Quincy High School and had moved to Bridgewater 13 years ago. Before raising her family, Virginia worked for the First National Bank of Boston. Wife of John E. Welch of Bridgewater, she was the mother of Paul J. Welch and wife Maureen of New Hampshire, Janice M. Lively and husband James C. of Bridgewater, Patricia A. Gramm and husband James of Bridgewater, Christine M. Pulsinelli of Raynham, Annmarie Farrell and husband Paul B. of Raynham; sister of Dr. Paul C. Canney of Hingham, Thomas Canney of Hanson and the late John and James Canney. Virginia is also survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass was held in St. Ann's Church, West Bridgewater, Dec. 8, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were Friday 4-7 p.m. in Prophett-Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater.
