Ruth A. (Swanson) Desmond, 67, of East Bridgewater, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 25, 2013, surrounded by her family at St. Elizabeths Hospital in Brighton. She was the loving wife for 48 years to Daniel J. Desmond Sr., retired Brockton Fire Dept. Born April 11, 1946, in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Swanson and Huno (Mather) Swanson. Raised in Brockton, she graduated from Brockton High School. Ruth worked at Brockton Hospital for over 30 years as a medical secretary. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling to St. Augustine, Fla., and Disney World as she was an avid fan of Mickey Mouse. She was a devout Catholic being a communicant of St. Edwards Church in Brockton and was very proud of her children all graduating from Catholic schools. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Tammy M. Morrissey and her husband Robert of East Bridgewater, Ami A. Desmond-Kelley and her husband Stephen of East Bridgewater and Daniel J. Desmond Jr. of Brockton; her grandchildren, Cameron and Rebecca; her siblings, Geraldine Stadelmann, Jean Swanson and Michael Swanson; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Monday, April 29, at 8 a.m. thence to St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, where a funeral Mass was celebrated for the repose of her soul at 9 a.m. Private cremation will follow.
