Ellen B. Rucker

Ellen B. Rucker, 97, of Bridgewater, died peacefully on Feb. 14. Ellen was the loving daughter of the late Clara and John Berry and grew up in Brewster. She was a graduate of Brewster High School and Hyannis Community College where she earned a degree in teaching. Ellen married the late Maurice E. Rucker in August of 1941 and the two raised their children in Bridgewater. Both Maurice and Ellen were educators in the town of Bridgewater. Ellen was a longtime 1st grade school teacher at the Burnell School and was also a volunteer at the Goddard Hospital. She loved to oil paint and her number one passion was reading. She enjoyed her summers in Brewster but most importantly being with her family. Ellen was the mother of Jon R. Rucker of Bridgewater and James G. Rucker of Bridgewater. Loving GG of Jennifer R. Johnston and her husband Kevin of Raynham, Nyree D. Berry of Bridgewater, Greg M. Rucker and his wife Debbie of Bridgewater, Adam M. Rucker and his wife Kristine of Bridgewater, and great-grandmother of 7. Friends and family were invited to the Prophett-Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater for a Funeral Home Service on Monday, Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. A visitation period was held prior to the service starting at 4 p.m. Burial will be private.
