Charlyne Costin Obituary
Costin, Charlyne D. (Dean). Of Brookline on August 21, 2012. Beloved wife of the late William Henry Costin, Jr. Loving mother of Maeve Giangregorio and spouse David of Belmont, Martha Costin and spouse Gail Sanborn of Portland, ME., and Elisabeth Costin and spouse Barney Beal of East Boston. Cherished grandmother of Michael, Nicholas, Ava and Jayden. Dear sister of Robert Dean of Danvers. Charlyne was born and raised on the North Shore, she moved to Vermont as a school aged child where she enjoyed life on her familys farm. In her 20s, she returned to Beacon Hill in Boston where she completed her Masters in Social Work at Boston University. She dedicated her professional life to family and children in crisis. She eventually became a stay at home mother to raise her 3 daughters. During that time she was very active in supporting local politics, including the campaign of Evelyn Murphy and Barney Frank. Charlyne was also very involved in the Brookline Public Schools System, and local Brookline Politics. Charlyne enjoyed her retirement years filled with many friends and family, traveling, music at Tanglewood, needle point and weaving. She especially had a passion for New England Colonial history and had been exploring many locations and islands all around New England. Her spirit for public service continued into her retirement as she volunteered at the Hebrew Rehab Center and Boston University Archeology Department. She will be sorely missed by her daughters, grandchildren, family and friends. Funeral Services will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Charlyne may be made to the William Costin Memorial Scholarship, Brookline High School, 115 Greenough St., Brookline, MA. 02445.
