Cynthia Stanett Obituary
Cynthia Stanett (1942-2016) of Marblehead, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. She was the daughter of Dr. Saul and Vitta Hertz of Chestnut Hill, MA. She was proud of her father's legacy as the first to develop the experimental data on radioiodine (RAI) and to apply it in the clinical setting at Boston's Massachusetts General Hospital. His groundbreaking discovery led to RAI as the first targeted cancer therapy. Dr. Hertz's paradigm changing research established the cornerstone of Nuclear Medicine. Cynthia leaves behind her beloved, devoted husband Jeffrey Stanett, whom she met as a childhood neighbor while walking her first dog. Mr. Stanett is a successful restaurant and real estate developer in the Boston area. Cynthia and her husband spent many loving years together in their Marblehead home, and many hours on the water, socializing with their boating friends. As a dog enthusiast, Cynthia also cared for several special pets. Cynthia was admired for her active mind and quick wit, fueled by her avid reading. Among her many pursuits, Cynthia enjoyed both a modeling and copywriting career. In her teenage years, Cynthia pursued her love of dance, music and art, studying with renowned choreographer Alvin Ailey. As a lifelong enjoyment, she was thrilled to see theatrical and musical performances and took delight in inviting friends to share in her love of the arts. Cynthia is survived by her sister Barbara Hertz of Greenwich, CT. Funeral arrangements and Memorial Observance are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made by check to "The Light of Life Foundation" and sent to 12 Aqueduct Road, Monroe Township, NJ 08831. Arrangements by Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, SALEM. For online condolences, please visit www. stanetskyhymansonsalem. com.
