Florence (Adelson) Angoff, of Roslindale, Mass. formerly of Brookline, Mass. and New Jersey died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010. For 47 years, she was the wife of the late Allan Angoff. Mother of Jay Angoff & Kerry Crist of Washington, D.C. and Naomi Angoff Chedd & Graham Chedd of Brookline, Mass. Devoted grandmother to Alison Angoff and Harry, Kinsey & Adam Chedd. Daughter of the late Anne & Maurice Adelson. Sister of the late Mildred Adelson. Florence graduated from Brighton High School in 1939 and from Simmons College in 1943. She spent her entire working life as a librarian, a field she loved, beginning her career at the Everett Public Library and then the Faneuil Branch of the Boston Public Library. She moved to New Jersey after she married in 1950, where she raised her children and worked at the Upper Montclair Branch Library and Montclair State College Library. From 1967-1989 she was the Librarian at Clifton High School, Clifton, N.J. She and her family lived in Clifton from 1954-1996. Florence led a full and rich life. She was an incurable Anglophile and enjoyed traveling all over the world with her family, visiting art museums and attending the theatre. After she retired and moved back to Brookline in 1995, she volunteered at the Brookline Senior Center where she gave book talks and at 10,000 Villages. She especially enjoyed spending time with her sister and her old college friends and poking around Coolidge Corner. Services were held at the Levine Chapels, 470 Harvard St., Brookline, Mass. on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. Burial was in Temple Emeth Memorial Park, Baker St., West Roxbury, Mass. In lieu of flowers please honor her memory by making a contribution to your favorite library.
