Miss Helen Bryant Cushing of Lowell, formerly of Brookline, died Friday, April 9, 2010, of natural causes in Andover. She was 94. Born in Lowell, July 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Lester H. and Marion (Bryant) Cushing, she received her early education in the Lowell School System and was a graduate of Lowell High School with the "Class of 1933". Matriculated at Boston University, earning her B.S. in Physical Education in 1937, and a Masters in Physical Education in 1939 at the University. Ms. Cushing started her teaching career in the Brookline School System in Physical Education and other studies for over 35 years, retiring in 1975 after a distinguished tenure in Brookline. In her retirement, Helen traveled extensively and enjoyed the company of her many friends, especially summering at her home in Scituate. Helen loved her many dogs, having bred Dachshund hounds and showed many of her favorites at dog shows throughout New England. Ms. Cushing was a longtime, active member of Christ Church United in Lowell and enjoyed spending time with her Church family. She is survived by a nephew, Bernard L. Yetton and His wife Donna A. of Andover. Also by many dear friends. Helen was the sister of the late Lorraine C. Yetton. Friends were received on Monday, April 12, at the MORSE-BAYLISS FUNERAL HOME, 122 Princeton Boulevard, at Chester and Harvard streets, Monday from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 13, at 10 a.m., relatives and friends were respectfully invited.
