Martin J. Brucker Obituary
Martin Jay Brucker, formerly of Brookline passed away January 22, 2017 in Florida where he had resided for the past five years. His beloved family was by his side. Martin was the dear son of Eleanor and Rubin Brucker (both deceased) and cherished brother of Roberta Brucker of Brookline. He was born July 2, 1947 in Boston and attended Edward Devotion Elementary School and graduated in 1966 from Brookline High School. He lived with his parents in Winthrop up until the age of eight when they moved with his younger sister to Brook- line where he was raised. Martin received his Bach- elor of Science Degree With Honors in Criminal Justice in 1974 from Northeastern University. His distinguished career in Federal Law Enfor- cement of nearly thirty years started as a U.S. Customs Inspector working in Montr- eal, Toronto and later Maryland. Martin then advanced to the U.S. Immigration Service based in Maryland where he and his wife Sydell raised their two sons, Howard and Scott Brucker. His responsibilities often included conducting special shipboard investigations. Following retirement from the U.S. Government he and his wife/ soulmate of almost 47 years relocated in 2012 to Cape Coral, FL from Owing Mills, Maryland. Wishing to continue making a contribution Martin volunteered with the Cape Coral Police Department as a Community Liaison on their boat patrols. Last year he received an award from the Police Department for providing outstanding and compassionate community service; however what was always most important to Martin was his love for his wife Sydell, his children Howard Brucker of Maryland and Scott and Kathy Brucker of Florida and his six adored grandchildren Sam, Max and Ryan Brucker of Florida and Bianca, Ainsley and Flannery Brucker of Ma- ryland. Martin is also survived by his sister Roberta Brucker and a number of other family members and dear friends. A Memorial Service was held Tuesday January 24, 2017 in Cape Coral, Florida.
