Obituary Condolences

Myrna Kahn Myrna Kahn BROOKLINE Myrna Kahn 1918-2010. For many years, Myrna Kahn had a successful career in the field of women's retail high fashion. She ran some of the country's most exclusive designer women's fashion stores in Boston, Beverly Hills, California and Miami Beach, Florida. "Those were the days of Coco Chanel and Oleg Cassini, when well dressed women wore designer hats, long gloves and beautiful jewelry, " Mrs. Kahn used to say. "My mother was know for her hats, especially her trademark Berets." said her son Robert. Upon her retirement, Mrs. Kahn entered the field of local elective office. Although in her 70's, Mrs. Kahn was elected Brookline Town Constable. Her election in a male dominated field was so unexpected that The Boston Globe did a large featured article about her and "her trademark beret". She used her position as Constable to help advocate for the rights of abused women and children. Mrs. Kahn served as Commissioner of the Brookline Commission on the Status of Women and was a long time Brookline Town Meeting Member. Myrna Kahn, still working as Brookline Town Constable, passed away peacefully on January 13 at the age of 91. She leaves her son Robert, who was her constant companion, her son Ronald and her daughter Iris, a grandson, a great grandson, many nieces and nephews and a lot of love. Services were held on January 15.
