Peter Segota, 79, of Acton, a native of Queens, NY, died unexpectedly on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Mary G. (Price) Segota, to whom he was married for 51 years. Born and raised in Queens, he was the son of the late Ivan (John) and the late Dinka (Radoslavic) Segota. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering from City College of New York City, and served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War Era. Mr. Segota began his career at the Putuxent River Naval Air Station, then moved to Houston in the early 1960s to work at NASA. The Segotas settled in Acton in 1970, where Mr. Segota was employed by the U.S. Department of Transportation in Cambridge before retiring. He was interested in his children's activities, and was especially involved with the Acton Youth Hockey program. He enjoyed playing golf and was a fan of the sport, attending tournaments and watching broadcasts. In later years he liked spending time reading, working on the computer, and following politics. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Brenda S. Segota of Brookline, MA; a son, Jeffrey P. Segota, his wife Barbara and their daughter Katherine, all of Chicago; a sister Anna Sebik and two brothers, Lawrence and Milan Segota; and many nieces, nephews and their families. He was the brother of the late Anton, John and Joseph Segota, Dinka Kolnik and Thomas Segota. Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Monday, September 5th from 1:00-4:00pm at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Massachusetts Ave, (Rte 111) Acton. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice. Private interment will be at a later date.
