Joan A. (Brode) Dunn, 101, of Bolt Hill Road in Eliot, died on March 4, 2013 at Sentry Hill in York, Maine. Born in West Roxbury, MA on January 10, 1912, she was a daughter of Charles L. and Maude (Hopkins) Brode. Joan was raised in West Roxbury and Quincy MA. In 1935 she married her loving husband Reginald A. Dunn and together they made their home and raised their family in Brookline, MA. In 1980 they returned to the Dunn family home in Pembroke, MA where Joan had spent many wonderful summers on Oldham Pond and she would make that her home for the next several decades. Joan enjoyed over thirty years as the Head Guide at the Christian Science Mother Church in Boston, graciously greeting visitors from all over the world . She also served as a First Reader at the Christian Science Church in Belmont, MA. Most recently she moved to Eliot, Maine to make her home with her daughter Diane and son in law Thomas. She is survived by her son Ronald Dunn and his wife Barbara of Seminole Florida and Osterville, MA; her daughter Diane Porter Burbank and her husband Thomas of Eliot, ME , her Niece, Joan Bishop Grados of Lima Peru and Nephew Raymond Dunn and Cynthia of Vermont. Grandchildren are Stephen Porter and Sarah- Orlando, FL , Susan Downey and John - Eliot, ME, Douglas Porter and Dawn -Orlando, FL, Jonathan Dunn and Fabiana- White Plains, NY and Allison Dunn Framingham, MA. Step Grandchildren are Beth Conaton and Tom Bedford, NH, and Cindy Billings and Greg Keene, NH. Her great-grandchildren are Blake and Brooke Downey, Clifford and Zachary Porter, Nathaniel and Sabrina Porter, Tom and Joey Conaton, Christopher Billings and Nicholas Dunn. A memorial service will be celebrated in June. Donations may be made in her memory to the Pembroke, Massachusetts Public Library Fund.
