Donovan, Joseph P., Jr., 60, of Walpole, formerly of Norwood, Saturday, September 21, in Attleboro after suffering a heart attack while driving to his sons basketball game on Route 495 there. Born in Norwood on July 22, 1953, he graduated from St. Catherine of Siena School and Norwood High School with the Class of 1971. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and received a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Joe was the beloved husband of Marybeth (Shannon) Donovan of Walpole, devoted son of Joan R. (Dower) Donovan, with whom he lived in Walpole, and the late Joseph P. Donovan. He was the loving father and biggest fan of his 3 sons, Joseph P., III, Brendon R., and Patrick T. Donovan; the dear brother of Jeremiah Donovan and his wife , Terry of CT and Joanne Kale of Norwood, and the uncle of several nieces and nephews. Early in his career, he was an aide to Congressman Joseph Moakley and also worked for the IBPO and NAGE unions in Boston. He practiced law in Canton at Rudin, Herzog, Ward and Donovan, P.C. with his partner at the firm, Timothy Ward. For many years, he coached his sons and others soccer, basketball, and baseball teams in leagues in Walpole. In 2006, he enjoyed watching his son, Brendan, play in the Little League World Series in Westport, CT. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, at 9:00 AM from the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rte. 1A), Norwood, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Timothy Church, 650 Nichols St., Norwood. Burial will be private in Rural Cemetery, Walpole. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, October 4 , from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
