David Donaldson Sr.

David Cummings Donaldson, Sr. (Sept. 26, 1921-Jan. 15, 2014). Mr. Donaldson died in his home in Orleans, Ma, essentially from old age, family surrounding him, a miraculous sunset in the background, accompanied by songs he loved and the 23d Psalm. Mr. Donaldson was born on the North Fork of Powder River at the end of the Horn of the Big Horn Mountains in tiny Mayoworth, Wyoming, on a ranch kitchen table at the sole hand of his mother. He grew up between a family ranch in Buffalo, Wyoming and Mt. Vernon, NY. Graduating High School in Buffalo, Wyoming in1939, he earned a full scholarship to Dartmouth College and graduated with a BA in 1943. He served in WWII as a decoder for the CIA's predecessor, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). After College and the War, Mr. Donaldson returned to Hanover, NH, to complete an MBA at the Amos Tuck School of Business before embarking on a roughly 30+ year career as an IBM salesman selling main-frame computing solutions to large corporations. He retired from Scarsdale, NY to Cape Cod in 1985 with his wife Anne L. Donaldson. He is survived by wife Anne L. Donaldson; sons David C. Donaldson, Jr., Henry L. Donaldson, Robert J.F. Donaldson, William B. Donaldson, and their spouses and partners (respectively) Patricia Reville, Erica Curtis, Carrie Fraser, Holly Donaldson, 10 grandchildren ranging in age from 12-30, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 26, 11:30 am at the Federated Church of Orleans, www.fedchurchorleans.org.
