Grace J. Offt (Jody) of Chatham, MA passed away February 7, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents Raymond and Helen (Murray) Offt of Montclair, NJ. Her two older sisters Betty Dickson of NJ and Ruth Whalen of Oneida, NY also predeceased her. Jody is survived by her niece Susan Whalen of Rome, NY and her two daughters Corrie and Kylie Aldrich, and by her nephew Kevin Whalen and his wife Cheryl of Oneida, NY. Jody was born in Patterson, NJ and grew up in Montclair, NJ. She received her BS degree in elementary education from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA and spent all of her teaching career in early elementary education. After college she taught in the Massachusetts school system. After six years she was encouraged by her college roommate to join her in the Sunnyvale, CA school system as an elementary school teacher
. In 1970 Jody returned to the East coast to MA, and taught grade school at Eastham Elementary School in MA, prior to her retirement in 1996. Jody was very active in the Chatham Congregational Churchs bell choir that she enjoyed very much. After Jody retired she was co-coordinator for Chathams FISH organization until her passing. Jody was an avid New England Sports fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots. She enjoyed watching professional tennis, and bird watching. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
