Robert Horton Obituary
Horton, Robert S., 66, of North Truro entered into rest on Aug 13, 2013. Robert was born in Roxbury, MA in 1946 to Sumner and Mary Horton. He attended Truro Elementary School, Provincetown High School and Goodwill Hinkley school in Maine before attending college at MacMurray in Jacksonville IL. Robert had been very active as a member of the Provincetown Lower Cape Rotary Club for many years. He was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the Truro Rescue Squad and Fire Department and with the local Boy Scouts. He loved nature and was often found outside exploring with his son Michael and his dog Sandy. He grew up working at his parents campground and later purchased it in 1978. He owned and operated Horton's Campground for 30 years before retiring due to health reasons in 2009. Robert leaves behind "the best thing that ever happened to his life" his son Michael Allan Rodrigo Horton, along with his brother David Horton and his wife Kathy of North Truro and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Robert will be joining his faithful companion, his yellow lab Sandy, who predeceased him one year ago. Memorial donations can be made to The American Red Cross or The MSPCA. A Memorial Service will be held at the Christian Union Church, 27 Shore Rd., Truro, MA on Friday, Sep. 6, 2013 at 10:00 AM , followed by a graveside service at Old North Cemetery, Rt. 6, Truro.
