Martha Miriam Fager

Obituary Condolences

Martha Miriam Fager, 89, of Mayflower Road, Carver, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at her home surrounded by the love of generations of family members. She was born September 12, 1923 in Gloucester, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Toivo Tuomi and Impi Laine Tuomi. Martha was united in marriage to Aarne A. Eager on August 7, 1944 in Kauvatsa, Finland. He preceded her death on November 9, 2004. They were married for over 60 years. Martha lived at home with her daughter Laila (Fager) Plante and her husband, Alan Plante. Her other children included: Liisa Maria (Fager) Palmer of Wareham; Reijo Aarne Fager (deceased): Heikki Johannes Fager and his wife Mardie of Carver; and Steven Olavi Fager and his friend, Karen Borbas, both of Carver. Martha was an amazing grandmother to her 20 grandchildren. She also had several great-grandchildren. As much as she was loved by her family, many others came to think of Martha as their "adopted gramma". Martha leaves behind a sister, Laila Victorine of Gloucester, Massachusetts. Her brother, Olavi Tuomi, passed away in 1999. She will also be greatly missed by her longtime friend - of over 60 years, Rauha Torni, of Westminster, Massachusetts. Before she retired, Martha was employed by various nursing homes and also worked for Ocean Spray for a time. Those who knew her will fondly remember her love of knitting, scratch tickets, fishing with her husband, completing word searches, and simply spending time with her family and friends. The burial will be in Carver Central Cemetery Monday, July 1, at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mrs. Fager's name may be made to: The , P.O.
